As anyone that was around at the time will remember, Cathy McGowan was one of the presenters of ITV's flagship pop music programme of the early–to–mid 1960s, Ready Steady Go! – along with Keith Fordyce and (occasionally) Dusty Springfield. She became known as the 'Queen of the Mods', and (according to Wikipedia, citing The Grauniad) was described by Eric Burdon, front man of The Animals, as "the girl of the day".
Her public profile subsided considerably after the discontinuation of Ready Steady Go! in 1966.
